Dog Caught in Fire Fighting for Life
~Pet Foundation will Match Donations for his Treatment~
Tampa, Fla. – Last week, Dryfus, a Great Dane, was caught in a bedroom as his home burned down. His owners were able to save him while their home and belongings were not able to be salvaged. Dryfus was brought to Florida Veterinary Specialists (FVS) where he received supportive care, including oxygen and pain relief.
“Dryfus’ family has been through a terrible ordeal and seeing him pull through like this shows us he is a fighter,” says Dr. Neil Shaw founder of FVS. “This family needs the help and Frankie’s Friends Charitable Foundation will match any donation made towards Dryfus’ care.”
Rescued a few months ago by his owner, Jeanie Campbell, Dryfus quickly became a permanent member of the family and made a tremendous impact on her family, especially in providing therapy to her two year old son with Down syndrome. “Before Dryfus became a part of our family, my son never crawled before and now he tries and mostly so that he can scoot closer to Dryfus,” says Campbell.
Dryfus is suffering from smoke inhalation and second degree burns from the fire. “Dryfus is showing signs of improvement,” says Dr. Jimmy Barr a critical care specialist at FVS. “We still have a long road ahead of us and it is likely he will need debridement surgery daily for a couple of days.”
Frankie’s Friends Pet Foundation, the charitable arm of FVS, is accepting tax-deductible contributions for Dryfus’ care and will match dollar for dollar every donation received. To make a tax deductible donation to Frankie’s Friends to help with Dryfus’ care, please contact FVS at (813) 933-8944.
