Tampa, FL -- Doctors at Florida Veterinary Specialists have named her “Maddy.” The young deer was brought in Tuesday night, after a good Samaritan rescued Maddy off the side of the road. She was limping, likely hit by a car.
After careful assessment and planning, Maddy will likely undergo surgery early next week to repair a fractured heel bone. During surgery, it is possible that other fractures within the same joint will be discovered.
Care for Maddy will easily climb into the thousands of dollars. So, the Florida Veterinary Specialists Charitable Foundation, a tax exempt charitable organization under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code will underwrite a portion of the expenses to care for Maddy during her stay. To help support Maddy and future cases like hers, the public is encouraged to make a tax deductible donation to the Indigent Care Fund within Florida Veterinary Specialists Charitable Foundation. The Foundation plays a major role in the hospital’s commitment to support research, education and indigent care.
To make a donation for Maddy’s care, call: 813-933-8944 or send an e-mail to: giving@fvs.com. The public can also download a donation form at www.fvs.com and click on “giving” at the top of the page.
