2006, January 25th - NYC Veterinary Technician Announcement

National Search for Licensed Veterinary Technicians

State-of-the-Art Veterinary Specialty Hospital Comes to New York City

New York City, NY – On any given day, Bobbi Wolfgram will do everything from radiation on a snake to chemotherapy for a bird.  “If you’re looking for a career, a specialty hospital is the place to go, because you have so much diversity.  It’s the dream of a technician to utilize your skills and push yourself further,” Bobbi says.  “There’s also the opportunity to cross train in various departments and use top notch technology.”

Bobbi is currently the head veterinary technician in the oncology department at Florida Veterinary Specialists and Cancer Treatment Center, in Tampa.  The success of that facility promoted local veterinarians in New York City to reach out to founder, Neil Shaw, DVM, DACVIM.  “They asked if we could assist in developing an emergency and specialty hospital that would work closely with their practices,” he said.

NYC Veterinary Specialists and Cancer Treatment Center is looking forward to beginning interviews with potential licensed veterinary technicians, assistants and front desk personnel.  There will also be positions available for an Emergency Services Manager, Purchasing Manager and various supervisors.  NYC Veterinary Specialists has a special relationship with general veterinary practices that will be referring cases to their hospital from throughout the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.  Due to this relationship, there are specific guidelines on attracting and hiring personnel.  "We respect our referral practices and will be committed to not hiring support staff currently employed at those practices," according to Darryl Shaw, Hospital Administrator in Tampa.

NYC Veterinary Specialists and Cancer Treatment Center will be a 20,000 square foot facility, located at the corner of 9th and 55th in New York City.  Slated to open in Spring/Summer of this year, initial specialties will include: Surgery, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Dermatology and more.

For more information on support staff employment, contact Shirley Sabin by e-mail at: Shirley.Sabin@fvs.com.  Interviews will start in March.
