Dr. Melanie Otte has joined the Critical Care unit at Florida Veterinary Specialists (FVS) in Tampa. Critical care cases, sent from referring veterinarians and other emergency hospitals, are seen immediately at FVS. Generally, these cases need a specialized work up and expanded intensive care that only Florida Veterinary Specialists can provide. No other general practice or specialty practice in Tampa Bay has a dedicated Intensive Care Unit (I.C.U.), staffed 24 hours a day by two critical care trained nurses.
Dr. Otte earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. She completed a rotating Small Animal Internship at Affiliated Veterinary Specialists in 1999. Dr. Otte completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. Her clinical interests include renal and endocrine diseases and critical care.
