TAMPA, Fla., November 9, 2005 – Lee Burstiner, DVM, Diplomate American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, and a member of Florida Veterinary Specialists (FVS) and Cancer Treatment Center’s emergency and critical care staff, has been named President of the Hillsborough County Veterinary Medical Society (HCVMS). The HCVMS is the not-for-profit association based here representing veterinarians in private and corporate practice, government, industry, academia and the uniformed services, which serves as the collective voice of its membership and the profession in Hillsborough County.
Dr. Burstiner received his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Florida in 1986, and completed his doctorate in veterinary medicine at Ross University in New Jersey in 1991. He then spent a year in general practice, and the next five years practicing emergency medicine in Lakeland, Florida, before joining FVS in 1998. FVS is the largest private veterinary practice in the southeastern United States, providing after-hours, weekend and holiday emergency care and a complete range of specialty services including dermatology, neurology, emergency medicine, internal medicine, oncology, ophthalmology, radiology, surgery, and acupuncture.
The HCVMS represents more than 100 veterinarians in Hillsborough County, providing continuing education, informational resources, and assistance in managing their practices, as well as supporting various animal-related programs that benefit the pet-owning public.
