Palm Harbor, FloridaFerman BMW of Palm Harbor is the only BMW dealership in the Tampa Bay area to host the 9th annual  BMW Ultimate Drive on Wednesday, April 6th from 10AM to 6PM to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation…and, the only BMW dealership where some four-legged furry friends are getting into the act.

A Sponsor and participant in this year’s Ultimate Drive is Florida Veterinary Specialists…a 24-hour critical care and cancer treatment center located at 3000 Busch Lake Boulevard in Tampa.  FVS understands the bond between pets and their owners, and how scary a diagnosis of cancer in your pet can be. Most pet owners will agree that their pet is a vital part of their family and the diagnosis of cancer in a pet can be a traumatic experience for all, particularly for a family with children. Florida Veterinary Specialists cancer treatment center uses state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic resources to diagnose and design a treatment plan for pets. The staff at FVS includes board certified oncologists, surgeons, internists and radiologists, plus a specially trained nursing staff to work with pet owners and the primary care veterinarian to provide expert care.

In recent years, progressive methods of treatment and rehabilitation for breast cancer patients have become available. Many hospitals and cancer centers have introduced “pet therapy” programs that foster the development relationships between animals and patients in an effort to ease the stress and comfort patients through their treatment and recovery.  Sometimes these same companions face their own life-threatening forms of cancer and it’s important to keep them healthy as well.

Bobbi Wolfgram, a certified oncology veterinary technician with Florida Veterinary Specialists, will be available to answer questions about diagnosis and treatment of cancer in your pet(s) between 10AM and 1PM at the BMW Ultimate Drive.  The BMW Ultimate Drive event is free and open to the public.  While participants await their turn to get behind the wheel, take time to visit with Florida Veterinary Specialists and their canine cancer survivors to learn more about this disease and its treatment for your four-legged loved one.

The Ultimate Drive for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is a program that conducts test drives to raise money for breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment.  For each mile driven, BMW will donate $1 per mile in the driver’s name to the Komen Foundation.  To date, the Ferman BMW event alone has raised in excess of $50,000 to aid in the fight against breast cancer.

The Ultimate Drive vehicles in this special BMW fleet represent all models including the 3 Series…Z4Roadster…5 Series…X3 SAV…X5 SAV…6 Series and 7 Series.  Participants can early register to reserve their drive time and choose their vehicle(s) by calling 1-877-4-A-DRIVE or logging on to www.bmusa.com/theultimatedrive.
